This is why we call them boneheads... [Oct. 17th, 2005|01:47 am]
[mood | amused]
[music |Union Made - "Hard Grace"]

The NSM rally in Ohio was cut short after 200+ antifas defended their community from fascist scum. As police charged protestors, NSM members fled to a nearby tattoo parlor to change out of their brown shirts and swastika armbands while awaiting a police escort. Had there actually been confrontations between the local citizens (many of whom were people of color) and NSM members, this would have been another Battle of York. Good job to everyone who went out to oppose NSM on Saturday, only problem is the random violence afterwards (burning down that bar, unless there was some reasonable justification and the gas station and overturned cars).

[music |The Business - "England 5, Germany 1"]

Not a whole lot goin on. I've gotten back into the whole school/work routine, although it's hard as hell to wake up at 8:15 every morning except Friday. Last weekend I went to the Erik Petersen/Bread and Roses/Yoni Gordon show at the TrashCan. Bread and Roses were interesting to see live, especially since I was curious to see how they'd fit an upright bass into that small corner they played in. Erik Petersen put on a great show, there was small area of drunks that were attempting to make a pit but it turned out to be more like a bunch of people falling over and swaying side to side. Saturday night I went out to dinner for my sisters birthday, then went down to pick Kelley up in University City. 43rd and Baltimore was flooded, the trolley's didnt even attempt to go through it which just tied up traffic and made no sense whatsoever. Anyway, finally got her and went down for the Phantoms game. We wound up getting free club box seats from some guy who had won the tickets over the radio so that saved me about $45 not to mention we had a private bar and waitress. Phantoms were down most of the game but tied it with 2 seconds left in the 3rd period and won the game with 1:47 left in overtime which was awesome but I was kinda hoping for a shootout. Afterwards we went down to South Street to meet up with Mary and her friend...I forget his name but he lives a few blocks away from me. Around 1 or so I took Kel back to her car and went to CVS for some medicine for my sister, which of course they didnt have. Sunday was birthday stuff for my sister again....monday I made it to my morning class, took Lori to get her car that she left at Marielle's. Came home for an hour, went to my class and then went bowling.

So I overslept this morning, got a call from Sam that she wasnt going to class either. I just got up an hour ago to shower and put some pants on, now I'm sitting here. I have to go to the post office to pick up a package later before work. Hockey season starts tonight, I couldnt be happier. I should have gone to the Flyers practice this morning but I was too lazy to get outta bed. Still tearin the shit outta my room, I suppose I could continue doin that until it's time to go to work. I'm just glad I don't have any more classes today. Alright, well maybe its time to get around and actually do something with my day, like shave.....

No War but Class War [Sep. 27th, 2005|11:55 pm]
[mood | thankful]
[music |Guerilla- The Streets Are Ours]

The working class and the employing class have nothing in common. There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life.

Between these two classes a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organize as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system, and live in harmony with the Earth. - The Preamble to the Constitution of the I.W.W.

I've been on a kick brushing up with my labor history again. Something about the struggles of the past still serve as inspirational and this can be said for more than just the labor movement. Take the International Brigades of the Spanish Civil War for instance. 40,000 international volunteers who rushed to the aid of the Spanish people who faced fascist repression. While the Republic eventually fell it can not be estimated how many lives were saved by the anarchists of the CNT/FAI as well as the foreign fighters who came from across the globe. I can only hope that if the time comes again (which I hope it doesnt) that people will be inspired by past struggles such as these and defend their rights when the time comes.

Just sitting around right now. Hung out with my ex- aka Sam on Friday, Buff and Greg on Saturday and Sam again on Sunday. School wasnt all that bad today, I just hate the long break between my two classes. I've had a renewed interest in video games lately, it comes and goes. Still waitin for my GBH, Partisans, Action and Broken Bones cds, hopefully some of them will be here Friday. Rejected had me order some braces for him...and my bank account is about drained. I need another job pretty bad, or to pick up more hours where I'm at now.
